Herbal Fireworks

I got my delivery of pickling cucumbers yesterday and got busy canning this morning. I make a spicy version of dill pickles I call Firecracker Dills that I decided to photograph. I got a kick out of how the dill kind of looks like fireworks, rather appropriate for something named Firecracker. My Norwegian relatives would laughingly call these spicy pickles "food that hurts".

The dill does indeed look like fireworks! Food that hurts, great terminology!

I used to can hot and spicy pickles too, and I still yearn for them.

If you need a taste tester, I wholeheartedly volunteer!

Brings back all sorts of memories from when my mom canned pickles.

p.s. I just planted some for the cooler weather of fall. It goes to seed so easily that you have to succession plant it every 2-4 weeks, which I can never manage.
