Spaghetti carbonara.
Spinach salad from my garden. It might also have some pea shoots in it.
Dessert! What a treat. Walkers mincemeat pies. These little pies are just wonderful with wine or in the case of the RG and our guest, an after dinner scotch, which I think is Oban.

(1,706 posts)something my then-fiance, now husband and I made up some 35 years ago when we would go to the Findlay Market in Cincinnati, where we were living at the time. They consist of toasted sourdough bread, a slice of turkey breast, sauteed mushrooms with onion and garlic, and a slice of swiss cheese, then broil until the cheese melts. Dessert is fresh raspberries.

(22,035 posts)I had a minor recording session in NYC's SOHO yesterday and my Landlady(!) came with me. Afterwards we went to southmost Mott Street to an amazingly long-lived and fantastic restaurant called Hop Kee.
We had:
Hot & Sour soup
Egg rolls
Mu Shoo Chicken
Beef with Chinese vegetables
Chinese tea
There was so much food that we were able to have a complete second dinner tonight.
Yum.

(5,657 posts)Its been raining for days so soup feels good. I used evaporated milk and chicken stock along with fresh thyme. Also has onion and multicolored carrots. Then I always finish with grated nutmeg.
Pretty darn good stuff!
On edit:
I just added spaghetti carb to my meal plan this week! Havent had it in a long while and I have everything I need except parm.
Thanks for the idea!

(35,667 posts)but the RG said it wasn't a carbonara of which the Romans would have approved. We didn't care; it was delicious.
Speaking specifically, it has to be made with guanciale, but we can't find a good source, even in NYC. And you'd think in Jersey, with its high number of Italian delis, but no....
