I have some beautiful asparagus, so I'm making asparagus in sesame-ginger-orange sauce.
For dessert, a little serving of pumpkin pie gelato, topped with a wee bit of pecan praline ice cream. These will be very modest servings of only a few tablespoons each. Trying to keep the sugar consumption down, but at the same time....I had a craving for something pumpkin.
It's raining quite intensely here and the RG is stuck waiting to get out of the tunnel from Manhattan, so I don't know what he'll be making. Something delicious, I do know that.

(5,659 posts)It sounds like a perfect pair tho!
Might have to look for something like that to take to Friendsgiving. Convo starter!
Chilli with shredded cheddar on top.
I like to make spaghetti noodles too, so I can eat leftovers Cincinnati Chili style!
Love a good Cinci chili bowl. Mmmm.

(1,568 posts)With a handful of cavatappi noodles cooked in so my youngest will eat it! Lol.
I do marketing for a Small Ice cream company so we have some amazing pumpkin pie ice cream for dessert. Banana bread in the oven and well have that for a late snack while binging to catch up on Manifest tonight.

(68,576 posts)I am made Quiche Lorraine with Gruyère,bacon and some onion (Joy of cooking recipe), pumpkin muffins and yellow squash (homegrown) sautéed with olive oil and garlic. Finally able to get back in my kitchen. I may never eat out again! We had grapes for dessert.

(35,669 posts)I know what that's like, having gone through a kitchen renovation before. We've missed your delicious menus. Home grown squash--oh, yum!!

(68,576 posts)it was a reno...that is still to come in the spring ...new house- bank owned fixer . We wanted to redo it and save money. Unfortunately, it sat empty and the sanitary pipes were blocked! We think the city has some culpability too but after three plumbers and no bathroom!, we finally solved it...got a whoosh as it were. We had added on a new bathroom and now get to use it! It is a bungalow build in 55...they called it a ranch, but I knew it wasn't. Sure enough found a window sided over in the attic...round window. And we have a false wall in kitchen...no idea what is behind it but it even has trim! The electrician found it when putting in grounded plugs. This house is fascinating to me...we downsized after hubs got a job in Cleveland so we are still attempting to get rid of too much stuff...went from a 4000 square foot house (which we renovated completely) to a 1800 square foot house with a full basement...not really small as my sis pointed out but we must continue to find new homes for our 'stuff' . I don't want to live in a storage locker.
Thanks for you great menus. I often find myself looking for recipes because they sound so good!

(22,037 posts)You mention that it was raining "quite intensely." Like your RG, I was stuck in that, too except I was trying to get into Manhattan. Everything surrounding the GW Bridge was jammed because of the rain. Once I got into Manhattan, it was grid lock everywhere. The trip from the mountain house to the city is usually 2-1/4 hours; yesterday, it took me almost 6 hours. By the time I got home, I was so exhausted I didn't want to eat anything and just went to bed.
This morning, I'm going to have a nice big breakfast!
