Soup made with lamb shanks that had been made in the slow cooker.
Side dish of cannellinis with chopped garlic shoots (first sauteed in butter).
Cornbread with butter.
Stuffed shiitake mushrooms. The stuffing was bread crumbs, garlic, parmesan, and a few other herbs.
Dessert: tres leches cake.

(2,574 posts)Some blueberries might find their way into the galette too...(99cents only store pretty much giving away organic strawberries & org blueberries last night).
Also have perfectly ripe avocados so we'll start w guac and blue corn chips & crudites.

(2,674 posts)Barbecued short ribs, steamed white rice, Po' Melvin's black-eyed peas, mashed sweet potatoes, coleslaw(cabbage, apples, carrots dressed with Ranch) and apple tart for dessert.
Used one of my favorite recipes, Clara's Kitchen Short Ribs, (I cut the recipe out of the paper many years ago, now you can find it on the internet). Clara's Kitchen was a South Dallas restaurant that was famous for Soul food. People would drive from all over Dallas to eat at her place.
I used flanken cut short ribs, these are the kind used for Korean barbecue and I like them better than the traditional short ribs.

I had a peanut butter and strawberry preserve sandwich earlier as I waited for them.
Salad, chicken, and apple pie when I couldn't wait any more. Same as last night from leftovers.
Now a mug of Constant Comment decaf as I decide whether or not to wait up for them.
