Baked Veggie egg rolls, Miso-Veggie broth with mushroom & bok choy & some cubed tofu & rice. A clean out the fridge bits & pieces meal. Decafe tea & chocolate biscoti for movie tonight.

First time I’ve tried a meal kit. They’ve always seemed intriguing, but I resist having to subscribe to something and think all that packaging and shipping of food is wasteful. But one of our local grocery chains just started selling their own kits, so I picked one up to give it a try. Ravioli with sauce. About $16. Serves two.

What I got:

- A recyclable container holding the whole thing
- A recipe showing how to prepare the meal. There were photos of each step, which was a nice touch.
- About a dozen pre-made fancy cheese ravioli
- A small can of tomato sauce
- Half a pint of heavy cream (recipe only used a quarter cup)
- A whole bulb of garlic
- A sprig of fresh basil
- Two tablespoonfuls of pine nuts

I was to provide olive oil and salt.

Results were okay, but I don’t think I’ll be making this a habit. I might buy a kit from time to time and make my son cook dinner with it.

We ate dinner this afternoon.

Roast whole chicken
Stuffing w/gravy
Peas
Macaroni and cheese casserole

-----------

FLFC had already eaten his specially made meatballs, but also enjoyed some of the chicken in spite of it being coated with mashed peas. He also sucked some cheese off the macaroni before spitting the pasta out. He demanded and received belly rubs. Then he burped before drifting off to sleep.
