What's for Dinner, Thurs., Aug. 29, 2019

Salmon steaks. I picked up two at the Chinese grocery store this a.m.

Grilled baby bok choy and Brussels sprouts in soy-ginger sauce. I will baste them with the sauce on a sheet pan.

In addition, the RG is making a vegetable dish out of carrots, squash, potato, and onion. This, too, will be cooked on the grill. He will then blend this together and we'll have it on our ciabatta.

Now, dessert. This is an experiment on my part. Lazy chia pudding. I ordered a container of chia seeds so I have a lot of them. I plan on mixing them into an already prepared pudding and topping them with blueberries and maybe some mint.

I got hooked on the chia seeds the other day when I bought that Hawaiian fruit bowl.

I am making the salmon with grilled shallots. Also, rice pilaf, green beans, and salad with brown mushrooms.

I found a pizza crust recipe that didn't call for yeast (I used all the yeast making bread). It came out pretty good.

Toppings were bacon, broccoli, onions and garlic.

I didn't make a homemade sauce as I had no tomatoes or tomato products. There was a can of "Manwich" sauce in the cupboard (I think Al's family brought it w/ them when they moved in), so I doctored that up.

Fun-sized Hershey bars for dessert.
