Lamb stew. I was craving root vegetables so the RG put in lots of rutabaga and turnips for me. In addition, carrots and celeriac, too.
He also baked cornbread in a cast iron skillet. You haven't lived until you've had some cornbread with pancetta in it. Also little bits of cheese and some hot red pepper.
Cherry kombucha to drink and for dessert, a plate of cut up Gala apple, grapes, goat cheese, and parmesan cheese.

(5,657 posts)This is a dish I have at an Italian restaurant in Springfield, Missouri. I loved it so much and they sort of told me how they made it but no recipe shared...so Ive tried it a few times over the years.
Last night I finally nailed it! Its roast beef cooked in red wine and beef broth and then you turn that into red sauce. I used a n instant pot pressure cooker. Then make a Bechamel, cook rigatoni pasta, and layer in the casserole dish. I added garlic to the White sauce and mozzarella cheese too.

(35,662 posts)I had that with my vegetable beef soup for so many years. Took me forever to figure out the secret was tomato paste. Duh. I should have just asked the RG but then I would have gotten an entirely different rendition and not what I was looking for.
Anyway, congrats on unlocking the secret!
