and I don’t know what after that. Maybe I’ll start to look for something around 10.

It’s a pain having to watch one’s cholesterol.... no eggs, which I love. Obviously no breakfast meat. I’m getting tired of cottage cheese/yogurt/fruit, but that’s pretty much all I have nowadays for breakfast.

what you all must think of me because I eat a lot of eggs and a lot of ham/sausage/bacon (well, not so much bacon, really).

I had gastric bypass in 2004. The surgery bypasses 1/2 of the intestines, which means I absorb only 1/2 of everything I eat--1/2 the calories, 1/2 the fat, 1/2 the cholesterol, but also 1/2 the fiber, 1/2 the nutrients.

On one hand I'm lucky, on the other hand I often struggle to get enough protein and vitamins into my diet.

I’m glad you had successful surgery! I have heard for many bypass patients the post-surgery diet takes some getting used to. Wishing you continued luck and success!

No, I understand your choices, I had the surgery as well.

Last week I made a chickpea based soup & put in rice, I must have had too much carbs at one time, because I had a 'sugar dump' response, first time in years.

almost always involving dessert.

Honestly, I think it's time for me to stop baking. I don't need the sugar that comes w/ desserts, and Al was put on diabetes medication this past year so he doesn't need it either.

::as always I have no benefits from this info::

There was 0grams of cholesterol listed, so for me the scrambled egg white, v. sausage patty & cheese in a tortilla was low in cholesterol. Hope this info helps.

mandarin, nuts, and a little French vanilla rice pudding.

Miss M, I'd like to think we're not judgmental here; one thing I will make a judgment on is that you're a sweetheart both on and off this thread--pitching in, like this a.m., and making sure your dad and other family are happy with good meals.

Plus you drink beer and you're the kinda' person I'd like to have a beer with!
