Related: About this forumHelp! LG Washer Drum Spin Issue (LE Error)
What happened and what I tried: Today, the LG Direct Drive washer started throwing the "LE" error when trying to spin what happened to be a couple of soaking wet, heavy blankets. I removed one blanket, but still it LE'd. That much weight all in one spot seemed to be an issue, so I threw in some "lighter" laundry to help balance the load in the drum. Still LE'd. So I took it all out and just tried running a normal load of t-shirts, socks, etc. It *still* LE'd! And this time, the door wouldn't unlock.Lastly, I reset the washer: unplugged, pressed the Start/Pause button for a few seconds, and then let it sit for 30 minutes. When I powered it back up, the door unlocked (thankfully), but the load still LE'd. To be fair, while the water was pumping in, the drum turned ONCE, which is normal, (got in a full rotation, I think), but a few seconds later when it tried to turn again it just wiggled several times and then gave the LE error.
Final Result: So it seems that a) the drum CAN turn, but b) the drum can't handle ANY load. When empty, I can still turn the drum by hand.
Question: Does this sound like a SENSOR problem? And are the sensors user-replaceable?

(7,754 posts)Heavy load overheats the motor which is why it shuts off with an LE error code. If LE code persists after cool down and unplugged/drained of residual voltage, the tub may be restricted or a sensor problem.
Good luck.🍀

(14,755 posts)It did spin around for a rotation or two at the very beginning, but then only wiggled thereafter as if trying to "sense the load." It eventually gave the LE error. I don't know if the water itself presented "too much" load? This jives with a sensor problem, doesn't it?
Also: A sensor problem requires fix by a service technician? Or could that be a part I can replace?

(11,350 posts)Turned out to be a capacitor that helps power the spin motor during startup. Your problem definitely seems related to the heavy wet blanket issue. Clearing the overload signal might require a tech visit. I learned a lot of operational details Googling my problem. (More than I wanted to know, actually.) Calling the manufacturer"s trouble shooting help line just pissed me off. "Call a qualified service provider" isn't why I called.
Good luck.

(14,755 posts)Today, I even tested with NO LOAD in the tub, on the Tub Clean cycle, and I still got the LE error!
