that gets dark pink buds on it in late April, early May. The buds turn into pink blossoms, which then turn white and last about two weeks or so. The flowers are always gone before Memorial Day. Does anyone know what kind of tree this is?

(2,116 posts)I havent used it in ages so it didnt occur to me, but if you try the. PlantNet app on your phone and take a picture of it, the odds are really good that it will give you the answer.

(3,058 posts)Thank you for your reply. That was nice of you to send me the link to the website. There are some pretty flowering trees on it.
I always mean to take pictures of the buds and then the pink flowers and the white flowers and take them to a gardening store to see if they know what kind of tree it is but I always forget. They're already starting to bloom now.

(3,058 posts)DUer George McGovern was kind enough to send me step-by-step instructions but I still couldn't figure it out.
Anybody have an easy way to do it?

(26,345 posts)go to https://postimages.org
push the "Choose Images" button after selecting a size (don't resize or "medium image"
It will ask for a photo from your camera roll. "Photo Library"
Pick one. There will be a checkmark when you do.
ADD
It will upload, and use the "direct link"
Yes, postimages sometimes does weird things, but it's easier to explain than https://imgbb.com
(on a computer, drag and drop)

(26,345 posts)I use those two image hosts about 30 times a day (so it seems)

It worked! Thanks, usonian!
This may be a dumb question, but this doesn't give them access to other things on my phone, does it?

(26,345 posts)A browser has access ONLY to what you allow it to access. At least on an iphone.
I dragged it into the google search bar on the computer and all image results were labeled crabapple.
NICE!!

(3,058 posts)Sorry to be such an ignoramus. Thank you for your patience.
It's like I used to tell the IT guys at work "you're trying to teach an old dog new tricks!"

(26,345 posts)I haven't used Android in a very long time.
There is a difference between allowing a browser to access photos (like to upload to a host for DU posting) and Google accessing your photos to store in their cloud.
I tell Apple NOT to copy my photos to their cloud, but I do allow browsers to access them, since I control when that happens.
Best asked in the Computer Help forum where Android experts can be found.
I can't say for sure that the browser can only access your photos. If it didn't ask for permission, then permission must have been granted sometime in the past or by default.
If this alone bothers you, either ask a way to undo permissions (in Computer Help) or just don't store documents like credit card photos and other personal info there.

(19,238 posts).... and then sit them down at your computer.
They will figure it out lickity split. Make sure to send them off with a bag full of extra brownies to return to their parents quickly thereafter, or problems might ensue.
Good luck in your computer tutorial by the next door kid.

(34,215 posts)What's the shape of the tree? Is it bush like? Or does it fan out? 🤔
MIButterfly
(3,058 posts)I'm sorry, littlemissmartypants, I am so ignorant about trees, plants and flowers. I really can't give a better description.
A few years ago, a section of the trunk blew off during a day that I didn't think was all that windy and the portion of the trunk blocked my sidewalk for two days until the association could come and remove it. It didn't affect the rest of the tree, though.

(34,215 posts)The shape and size of a single leaf would be a helpful detail, though.

Ruby Falls Weeping Redbud has pink flowers that turn yellowish. Could be that.

It could be a type of laurel, too.
I need more information.
What growing zone are you in? That would be a helpful clue, too.

I'm leaning towards magnolia. Does it leave seedpods on the ground?

(26,345 posts)I hate to say this but I do it sometimes.
Rather than suggest a plant identification website.
Go to images.google.com
Click on the little camera/photo icon
It will let you upload that photo
In the results, most of them have plant names on them. One will match closely, and that's the name.

(26,345 posts)For $2200, it had BETTER be beautiful
I'd be taking photos myself, but flowering things are kind of limited here to whatever deer don't eat entirely.
It almost seems odd that there's anything that they don't eat.
Sad for me, roses are like CANDY to them.
May move this year.
