Edited again. Thank you all, Jameson is gone, he died this morning. Thank you for your kindness.
Today we had to say goodbye to Jameson. He was my shadow, my heart, my best friend, my family. I love you, little man. Rest in peace.
This morning we were optimistic that we'd be bringing him home tonight. Between this morning and afternoon, his lungs started filling up with fluid and his heart was giving up. We were blessed with 4 1/2 years of him in our lives and are thankful to have called him family.
Thank you, everyone, for the unending support and love we have felt over these difficult few weeks. We don't know how we would have remained as strong as we did without you. In the unlikely event that we have donations remaining after paying his medical bills, we will be donating them to the Animal Humane Society of Golden Valley, MN in his memory.

I have usually looked upon posts asking for help as not quite appropriate for DU, but Skinner has said they are ok. This is my wonderful nephew, family and their 4 yr old dog Jameson. I have watched as they searched for a puppy, found the little wrinkled blob at the shelter, and as he has grown to adult doghood. Now he is very sick.
Any help that can be given is very gratefully appreciated and if you are of the praying sort, good thoughts help also.
If this is inappropriate here, please let me know and I'll self delete. Thank you.
ETA, Jameson had surgery to remove string and other foreign matter from his intestine, they should be able to bring him home today and now deal with his neurological problems, liver and kidney issues (unless any was related to having foreign in his intestine. He's a dog). Thank you for your kind words, thoughts, sharing of the gofundme page.
They have almost 2/3 of what they needed for the MRI and tests, were able to charge the $3000 surgery cost.
I used to not understand how people could spend so much on a pet, but do now. It starts with your friend being sick, suffering, and the costs just go up and up. Thank you all here for your thoughts and for sharing this.

Saturday, November 8th Jameson woke up with a loss of balance, stumbling and randomly collapsing. Results of a full blood workup and urinalysis were completely normal. After sedation and a deeper look into his ears, the vet also ruled out an inner ear infection. Fearing a bacterial or fungal infection in his brain or a brain tumor, he started a treatment of steroids and antibiotics. Two weeks later, we haven't noticed any improvement. As of Thursday, November 27th, his condition includes drooling, vomiting, trembling, facial paralysis, tilted head, weight loss, and disorientation.
Were attempting a different course of antibiotics and a thyroid test tomorrow (11/28/14) which will be around $350. However, the vet has recommended that Jameson be seen by a neurologist at the University of Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center for an MRI. The cost of the MRI is $2,500.
This is an expense were not able to undertake on our own. Since the vet is unable to determine what is wrong with him, were hoping to get enough funding to take him to the U of M for an MRI and further treatment. Any help is appreciated.
We believe he deserves a chance at welcoming his 5th birthday in good health

Update #5
We're finally home from the animal hospital, but unfortunately Jameson is still there. They did an ultrasound of his abdomen which showed pockets of gas, something that looks like pieces of a necklace, and another pocket of something they can't identify with the ultrasound. He is currently undergoing surgery to remove whatever is in his intestines and will give him IV fluids to rehydrate him while he's under anesthesia. He'll be there for 24-48 hours for observation, surgery, recovery, fluids and pain medications. After that we'll address his neurological issues that are causing facial paralysis, head tilting, and legs falling out from under himself.
Cost of today's surgery ranges from $2,800-4,500 and we had to pay the lower amount before leaving him there. Luckily we signed up for CareCredit and were able to charge the $2,800...
We'll keep updating this page as we find out more from the doctors. Thank you for all of your support and donations. Please keep Jameson in your thoughts and prayers.

He said they did full blood work and a tox screening. That was my thought also. It is just sad.

Whether or not Jameson survives, they will have some hefty bills from trying to figure this out. They are a very sweet family, very nice people and this is really upsetting to them.
Thank you for your prayers.

(11,573 posts)3. I asked because my sis
lost her dog to bufotoxosis--toad poison--a few months ago, and Jameson's symptoms are very similar.
