So I have my roommates cat in the room with me. I'm tired from last night's shift (got off two hours ago) and I want to go to sleep. Thing is, I have the windows open, with screens in them.
This wouldn't normally be a problem, except that today there's birds everywhere. She keeps lying down with me only to bolt to the windowsill.
I can't close my window because I'm trying to vent the room for something. Think the cat won't attempt to get through? So far all she's done is stand up with her paws on it.
I wouldn't be worried normally, but...she is a lively cat, and she is loving the birds. I haven't lived with this active of a cat before, so I don't know what to expect.
(also, I can't kick her out. She's warm and furry and is kneading my side, and...yeah. Gratuitous pic:
)
Edit: dang, imgur doesn't play nice. Fixed.

(24,146 posts)we always leave the windows open in warm weather and never had a problem with one of them going through the screen, but if you're concerned, i would evacuate her from the room and close the door.
not that i could ever kick a face like that out of my bed.

(3,747 posts)But I wasn't sure if younger, slightly spunkier (read; obnoxious) cats would be more of an issue. I decided to close the blinds so that she'll at least make a hell of a racket if she tries to go through, but this way she can watch the birds while I sleep.

Thanks! Here's a slightly more candid shot:

(16,296 posts)Just consider yourself in the training period (cat training you). It'll all work out.

(15,223 posts)For regular up and down windows, a wooden baby gate works great! You can find them at the dreaded Walmart for about $10 each, or you can actually find a lot of them at garage sales.
