Say Hello to Marcy.

My friend Maria called me last night to see if I could foster a rescue. She's a 7 month old lab who has been pretty much neglected. They left her out in the back yard all night in all weather because they didn't want her tearing up anything in the house. Gave her no training or reinforcement. She barely responds to her name since she doesn't really know it. I taught her how to "Sit" and "No" in just a few minutes. We are working on "Off"-she's just so happy at attention, she forgets. By 2 AM she had managed to get on the bed and snuggle up to me, which got Rusty in a grumpy mood so they barked at each other for an hour before settling down.

It's going to be fun since Rusty and Jake, my older dogs are over 16 now.

with her on behavior. It will make all the difference in the world in her adoptability, that is, unless you become a foster failure!!! I'd be tempted to keep her, too.

He is clearly super smart, judging from the eyes. They appear "knowing".

Good doggie!

when it is time. Such a shame he had a lousy life up until now.

BTW, your grass needs mowed. (Lucky for me, it is winter here! )

I just let it be, it doesn't hurt anything. Plus it's about time for the wild onions to make their appearance in the yard-Yum!

If there's water, she wants to be in it. Including jumping into the shower with me while I wasn't looking.

I still haven't found out what shots she's had so I'm taking her to my vet today.

Got back from the vet. She's gained 9 lbs and grew close to 2 inches in the last 4 weeks.
Made an appointment to get her spayed next Thursday.
(Another thing the previous owners neglected to do)
Outside of chewing up everything she can get a hold of, she's perfect.
Smart as a whip, learns fast although sometimes she forgets everything she's learned.
Knows what ride is and thinks the bank drive-through is an automatic dog biscuit dispenser.
