Do I chastise, or give him a treat?

Too late, I gave him a treat.

We've been collecting all of our 2011 tax info in a cardboard box on the dining room floor, and woke this morning to discover the box and its contents soaking in kitty urine. Seriously, it was a soggy mess.

The W-2s, 1099s & receipts are all hanging in the laundry room drying. The forms started to disintegrate when I tried to wipe them down, so all I could do was hang 'em.
This'll be the first year I do my taxes wearing gloves.

Scheduled a vet visit for Thursday in case it's a urinary tract infection and not a political statement.

Wonder if we'll be audited this year....

But that is really nasty. It reminds me of when I was working for an accounting firm, and I had to do the taxes for a business that had a deer farm and produced that bottled urine scent for hunters. I don't have to tell you that all the receipts I got smelled like urine.

It might be gross, but if you are ever to be auditted, let it be for this year. And don't tell the IRS agent. LOL

Ok, I have to admit I just couldn't help laughing at this. Oh you naughty naughty kitty, you!

I dunno, this could be a clever politcal statement by kitty as to what she/he thinks of the IRS.

Holy cow, what a mess! I'm sorry you have to deal with this. I guess we've all been there with the pets when they make their special statements by crapping on our pillows or barfing in our shoes or eating our brand new expensive something-or-other. I understand why you couldn't help giving kitty a treat... we love them like crazy no matter what the hell they do.

Good idea to see if it's a health problem or not. UTI's really suck. I have a feeling though that kitty just figured a box is a box is a box.

If you get audited the auditor will likely give you a pass once they get a wiff of Max's surprise and they'll put your name in the "whatever you do DON'T get anywhere near this one!" file so you'll never have to worry about being audited again. Hey... smart kitty!

Glad you thought to take Max to the vet so the infection was discovered. That's one really smart cat killing two birds with one stone... getting to the vet AND protecting you from being audited ever again!
