Related: About this forumPulling out the plastic Thursday. Kitty going to the Vet.
I found a Vet with a great rating who will do the dental work she needs for $600.00. A lot for me but it has to be done and it beats the thousand dollars I was quoted elsewhere. Kitty was examined Monday and the Vet showed me her upper rear molars. They are a mess on the top right. I was told that poor kitty was in pain and I believe it. Her gums are really red. The only variable I have in the price is if they have to take out more than 2 teeth. It will be another $20.00 each if that happens.

I am worried about recovery but I guess every pet owner does the same.

(2,860 posts)If you don't have Care Credit, you might want to check into it. The loan is basically interest free for 6 months from the first charge. My wife and I had to go through this with our large dog. We learned our anatomy lesson. The knee-bone is connected to the visa-bone. It took us all of the 6 months to pay the bill off. Our dog had to go to a large animal vet and get a titanium plate put in to hold his knee together. He actually blew out both knees, but we could only afford to fix one of them. Good luck with your kitty. I hope she heals quickly.

(6,080 posts)And it has saved my butt a few times. Many human medical practices take it as well. My wife couldn't have gotten two expensive procedures without $350 co pay per procedure without carecredit.

(34,390 posts)it costs almost as much for feline dental care as it does for humans. I'm glad you found a less expensive place, and I'm sure that kitty will be grateful after it's all over. I'll be thinking of all of you on Thursday!

(6,080 posts)I have so many fur babies. They can be so expensive, but so worth it. Good luck.
