Lab's owners get $620K settlement after cop shoots their dog

The shooting happened in 2010. The court, on Monday, found in favor of the family and made the award.

The dog, by the way, survived the shooting but is still suffering and walks with a limp.

Here's a link to the story: http://www.fredericknewspost.com/sections/news/display.htm?StoryID=133903

I can't imagine how that family felt when it happened.

Edit to change "oners" to "owners" in the title.

I used to get so pissed off at court shows when the judges could only compensate plaintiffs or defendants for the actual monetary cost of a pet. If you had a mutt you basically got nothing. Yeah, that's fair.

it may be enough to discourage police and others from shooting a dog.

the taxpayers foot the bill
it is time for the offenders to pay out of pocket and then maybe you would not see so many
police shoot everything in sight

It will wake up the citizens and maybe force them to do something about poor performing cops

It's about time that pets are treated like the loved family members that they are!

I feel so badly for this family and their poor doggie.
