Help. Cat up a tree.

My dog has run a cat up a tree. It hasn't moved for a couple of hours. I figure it's either terrified or caught in a tight "V" in the tree.

It's too high up the tree to reach, especially late at night.

Any good ideas?

I'm sorry, I'm an animal lover and want to "do something." It doesn't help that that the dog is going nuts wanting back out.

You are probably correct. I have no other idea.

nor money.

We got the garden hose and turned the sprayer to diffused stream, not full force, and behold our fur son came down.

Seems a reasonable plan to me.

The wife's plan is to see if it is still there tomorrow before trying the hose. Over the years, I've learned the hard way she is right more times than I.

10. If it is not your cat it will be too scared to come down. Leave it alone with a light

on. Don't peek. Leave it alone for a few hours or overnight. If there are lots of Vs in the tree the cat will be able to go down the tree face first from branch to branch. Then jump the last 10 feet or so to the ground. If there are no Vs and the trunk is straight down for more than 10 feet from the ground, the cat will have to climb down butt first backwards. This is not natural but cats do figure it out if they have to. Is it an older cat? It may already know and is just waiting for you and dog to be gone.

Small calico.

I'm going to bed - leave the light on - and hope for the best. I seem to be doing a lot of hoping for the best today.

It’ll come down on its own. I had one go up about 40’. Stayed there for three days, then came down on her own. No harm.

15. Really, if cats never came down from a tree we really would see cat skeletons there.

They will come down. Just leave it alone. Also, in the future restrain your dog.
