A rescue worker was injured by a cat who attacked him when he tried to carry her down from the top of a 50-foot oak tree. Luckily, the feline was safely brought to the ground, although her rescuer ended up in the hospital when his bite wounds became infected.

1. You think they'd know to wear full arm coverings. If a cat wants out of your grasp, they'll claw you

and it's like getting a bunch of fish hooks caught in your arms. Sometimes grabbing them by the back of the neck saves the claws and bites, but not always.

Glad they got the little bugger.

2. My son's cat was up in a tree - I mean , really UP in a tree

Top branch, must have been over 50 ft. high. Everyone got worried after a few hours of calling and pleading. A neighbor kid volunteered to climb and it was a perilous climb. A small crowd gathered. The kid's mother yelled for him to come down and he ignored her climbing higher and higher. Reached out for the cat , who at that moment jumped down to the next lower branch, then from that and then another lower branch, etc., etc. until it leaped from about 9 feet off the ground. Damn thing ran into its owner garage and starting eating - dinner time.

We all learned a lesson about cats in trees that day.

3. My friend's husband has caught cats for the SPCA and he always covers his arms and wears gloves

And that's how my kind helpers managed to catch my kitten (he's 4 now) who I found in a supermarket parking lot. He had gloves and she had a basket (I brought a carrier). He was a little bitey thing, he was scared.

5. A big world would look so terrifying to little critters who are lost, and helpless.

6. He sure didn't act like it, LOL

I talked to a few of the construction workers there at the time and a couple of them had tried to catch him, but one got bitten for his trouble. The little guy was definitely in a dangerous situation, I knew that I had to do everything I could to get him out of there. But I couldn't have managed without the couple who helped me. I think he worked at the store and his wife came to pick him up. They were as dedicated as I was, he had gloves and she had a basket. My vet said he was about 7 weeks! I'll never know how he ended up there, but he was a survivor and he's grown into a beautiful cat! He turned 4 last month.

4. Thank goodness the man cared more about bringing the cat down than getting revenge!

It takes a very brave, and generous person to even consent to endanger himself in order to save a small one, as he did.

A lot of people would have walked away, claiming when it wanted to come down, it would come down on its own. A lot of little ones end up staying in trees a very long time.

Hope he heals properly and quickly, and gets a follow-up thank you for his kindness.
