1. Turn about is fair play, cats have been doing this to dogs forever.

My tuxie cat often sleeps on our very large dog bed. First time she did that , Finley (dog) came over and made frustrated noises, blowing air out of his mouth & bobbing his head up and down. Coco just ignored him and stayed all curled up in a small corner of this very large bed. Finley has now accepted this and just lies on the couch instead. He knows who's the boss and what his penalty would be if he tried to push her out. In this case, size doesn't matter.
