Sparta aka Mean Kitty has died

Sparta was best known as The Mean Kitty - he had his own song:

His owner posted a lot of videos about Sparta and that lead to his own YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/TheMeanKitty/featured with even more Sparta videos including some of Sparta's friends. The channel has been up for eleven years!

This is exactly what happened to my cat Jeoffry just one month ago. I knew that's what it was, an aortic thromboembolism, as soon as he described the symptoms, and the outcome was just the same for Jeoffry. It comes on very suddenly, usually as a result of a heart condition that's probably gone unnoticed, and most of the time nothing can be done. It's a terrible shock when it happens.

RIP, Sparta.

I don't know which is worse - watching a slow decline and having to decide now's the time, or sudden illness - fine one minute and desperately ill the next - where you don't have time to agonize over it and all at once they're gone. Both situations suck, just in different ways.

It's hard to say goodbye, and maybe even harder out of the blue like that.

Sort of the same thing happened to a cat I once had. He was fine, and then one day his entire back half seemed paralyzed.

We didn't find his body for months and kept hoping he would show up. It's the first time in nearly fifty years I have not owned a cat, but until our construction is finished I won't adopt. We're getting near the end and can move furniture and stuff while the screened porch is repaired - that will be the catio so I want it finished before we adopt.

Did could have been kidney failure they don't retain potassium, which is necessary for muscles to work. This same thing happened to a rescue bottle baby kitty. At 4 months, he just collapsed like a rag doll. Bloodwork showed kidney failure. He was given one med for the kidneys, one for potassium which he takes daily. He also eats SciDiet canned kidney food. He collapsed about 7 years ago. He recently had bloodwork before dentistry...his kidney values were fine.

Take sick animals to the vet!!! Lots of health issues can be fixed!

Look at "My Last Video #RIPSparta" the last video posted in the OP. Sparta's owner tells what happened at the vet.

Sparta had a blood clot in his spine because of a heart problem; the clots caused the paralysis. While the vet gave the owner options, she was certain that it would happen again. The owner made the choice to euthanize him. That last video is heartbreaking to watch.
