My best girl & companion crossed the rainbow bridge

She was 16, and i knew it was coming, as she had been declining. But gosh, that doesnt make it easier.

Pipkin was a 4 lb sable mini-pomeranian named after the littlest rabbit in Watership Down, one of my favorite books. She was very springy like a bunny, which is how the name occurred to me.

I've lived in seven states, relocating for my career, sometimes completely alone, save this dog.
She lived in five with me, (because she hadnt been born yet while i was in the other two)--so travel was part of her dna.
Sometimes I was so lonely, she went with me on every single errand, even the smallest. When you're 4 lbs and quiet you can go anywhere, we discovered.

I do, and will, miss her terribly. Dogs are angels.

Its always hard. Ive heard of a few pet passings lately.

Someday. It hard to imagine a better pet. But they're all wonderful. Its the GOOD going on in our lives, these furballs.

who passed away in 2017, had a teacup pom that she adopted when the pom was about 10-11 years old. Her name was Honey and she was almost blind, had maybe 1 tooth left, and couldn't hear well. But she took to my mom like they were soulmates and my mom kept her going for quite a few more years. She was a special dog and they had a special relationship. I'm so sorry for your loss

Knowing it is coming doesn’t come near preparing you for the heartache. My little Teddy is 12 years old, and I can only hope that he’ll make it to the 16 years you had with your Pipkin. You must have given her a wonderful life, for her to have been with you that long.

I know you’ll just miss her to pieces, and I’m so terribly sorry for that.

(Watership Down was one of my mom’s favorite books. My mom died in ‘92, but every time I hear that title, I think of her, so thanks for bringing that up.)

I kinda love all their names! Its on the bookshelf and gets a re-read every so often.

The little ones can live long, but yeah, every year I was more thankful. Hug your Teddy.

cry all the time. We were never apart (she was only 7 pounds, so like your baby she could go everywhere with me...and she did). My apt is no longer a home. It is an empty space with no soul. She was 17 and I got her at only 8 weeks old. I hope you handle this loss better than I am. No matter how long they live, it is never enough. I've dreaded this for 17 years since I knew it would just about destroy me.

There. Im so sorry for yoy loss. They really are such a joy and the loss is a pupper shaped void in your heart and life. The "portability " factor when they are little means more time together.

Im doing ok kind of during the day. There's that quote about grief "grief is a hole you walk around during the day, and fall into at night". Kind of this. Sending you strength.
