Ive seen cats rip open a large bag of food and sleep in it, occasionally waking up for a nibble, but not this.

(4,168 posts)She was a rescue, approximately 7-8 years old, who was pulled out of a hoarding situation. Nearly a dozen dogs were chained up in the yard, and one died of starvation before the rescue was completed. All of them were emaciated.
So, not surprisingly, her entire focus is food. The first day of her adoption we ended up chasing her through the house as she scavenged for something, anything to eat. She made it to the kitchen and slurped up half a tub of butter before we could wrestle her down from the counter. Thankfully, she's food-obsessed but not food aggressive, so getting between her and food is not a dangerous situation (except for pulling a muscle, because she's a big girl and very strong).
After three years, she's MUCH better adjusted. She's stopped chewing up random household objects (we lost hairbrushes, phones, vacuum cleaner parts, pencils). But she still raids the cat food and constantly begs for treats.
