The next step I hope Carys takes is, admittedly, a big one

That she will come out of hiding when other people are at the house.

My brother and niece are coming by for dinner. The three boys take full advantage of each having one human to themselves for LOTS of attention.

I have no idea where Carys hides. There have been a few fast glimpse of her tail as she relocates to another hidden and secure location. It takes about 10 minutes, after everyone leaves, for her to come out.

But I can't really complain. More often than not, she comes running when I sing her song. This morning she was stretched up against my leg, I think asking to be picked up and held.

The specialist said that the hospital kind of overdid things. Once they ruled out a stroke or brain tumor, they could have sent him home and notified him of the appointment.

Doesn't surprise me. This is the same hospital that once had me in-patient for 3 days, just to take a set of x-rays. And the same hospital where I never spent less than 8, and usually more than 12 hours waiting in the ER when I'd take in either my mom or aunt.

Ty so much for the update!

I'd much rather have the hospital err on the side of caution.

My Charlie hides from “company” while his brother Andy is all over them for scritches. Just a personality difference I guess. Charlie is very much a one-person cat (me) even though DH usually feeds them.

I have had several cats throughout my life and I have only had one that didn’t run and hide when people came over. It was my first cat named April.

My two kitties were born during COVID when we had no visitors. They are great around us but now the minute the doorbell rings or they hear visitors’ voices they run and hide. One learned this from the other one. Any ideas on how to overcome this?

I have no clue as to his past. When I brought him home he was an abandoned 4 months old. He took to me immediately and within days he and Madoc had bonded. Then slowly but surely he started inching out when other humans were around. We'd see him peeking around corners, taking measure of the situation.

I remember the day he finally climbed up on my brother's lap. My brother almost teared up. He's got a lot of experience in feral rescue.

Now Gryff is just in the mix.
