Did the head of a religious faction take a gummint helicopter from DC to New York?

I redacted the head's title because I'm getting just a little tired of hearing it by now.

LIVE VIDEO: Pope Motorcades Through Manhattan

Or is he in the aircraft in the background?

Maybe the gummint helicopter is part of a support crew.

I'll be reimbursed for this any day now.

Firing of teacher in same-sex marriage roils Catholic school

The e-mail left many parents at the private Catholic school upset and confused. The well-respected director of religious education had just been fired.

Nell Stetser, principal of Waldron Mercy Academy, an elementary school in Merion, sent the e-mail Friday to say that Margie Winters was out of a job after eight years.

The reasons were confidential, Stetser wrote.

But the "context" she went on to offer included clues to what the school saw as a problem: Winters is in a same-sex marriage.

Archbishop Chaput releases statement on fired Catholic school staffer

LOWER MERION TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- The head of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia is weighing in on the firing of teacher from a Montgomery County Catholic school, who allegedly lost her job because of her same-sex marriage.
....

On Monday, Archbishop Charles Chaput released a statement, which reads: "Schools describing themselves as Catholic take on the responsibility of teaching and witnessing the Catholic faith in a manner true to Catholic belief. There's nothing complicated or controversial in this. It's a simple matter of honesty. I'm very grateful to the Religious Sisters of Mercy and to the principal and board members of Waldron Mercy for taking the steps to ensure that the Catholic faith is presented in a way fully in accord with the teaching of the Church. They've shown character and common sense at a moment when both seem to be uncommon."

Kentucky clerk Kim Davis met privately with Pope Francis, Vatican confirms

Morning Mix

Pope Francis met with Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis during the pope’s visit to the United States, the Vatican confirmed on Wednesday morning.

Rev. Manuel Dorantes, a spokesman for the Vatican, said to The Washington Post, “I do not deny that the meeting took place, but I have no comments to add.”

The meeting between Davis, who went to jail for six days after refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, and the pope was announced late Tuesday by Liberty Counsel, a religious freedom nonprofit that is representing the elected Rowan County clerk in her ongoing legal struggles.

Liberty Counsel said in a news release that Davis and her husband, Joe, met privately with Francis at the Apostolic Nunciature in Washington last Thursday. The pair chatted about bravery, then hugged and exchanged promises of prayer, according to the news release.

Would Woodward and Bernstein have been allowed to run with a story based on the quote “I do not deny that the meeting took place, but I have no comments to add”?

What would Jack Chick say about this?

The Pope Will Fly Aboard VH-3D "Marine One" Choppers While In New York

A pair of VH-3D “White Top” helicopters, referred to as Marine One while the President is on-board and used exclusively for White House executive airlifts, moved the Pope from JFK International to the Manhattan’s Wall Street heliport early this evening.

The Pope’s use of helicopters is nothing new, with the Vatican using specially outfitted VH-3s similar to Marine One for years before switching to the more modern Agusta Westland 139. These VVIP configured helicopters are painted white and operated by the Italian Government on behalf of the Vatican.

Yet with other options available, rarely does Marine helicopter squadron HMX-1 use its “White Top” VH-3D or VH-60N helicopters for any non-presidential airlift associated missions except for occasional high-level state visits. This appears to be one of them.

The use of what are the most meticulously maintained and most highly defended helicopters in the world comes as unprecedented security procedures have been put in place around Manhattan for the Pope’s visit.
