Gun Control & RKBA
Related: About this forumOne reason why RWers fear the laws keeping "the mentally ill" from being able to buy guns ...
(probably)
1. Extreme (unfounded) Paranoia is a mental illness
2. Lots of RWers feel that the "big government" is massing just down the road to take away their guns ...
3. while flying in unseen black helicopters ...
and
4. 2+3=1 - meaning ... since they could be deemed mentally ill for believing 2 & 3, they won't be allowed to have guns.

(2,927 posts)... For promoting your agenda. Insult those with whom you don't agree and create fictitious arguments.
I can really see why people and legislators are embracing your cause.

(16,020 posts)because they have had episodes in their lives where they have needed help. They don't want to have their names in a database. It seems that it would be kind to think of how they feel when these words are spoken as were in the OP. It can be very hurtful.

(6,185 posts)They aren't getting any new gun control laws (22 years and counting), so the best they can do is try and piss and moan here.

(9,494 posts)This is a Liberal leaning neighborhood so it's been the block topic for days. He lives smack in the middle of a nice friendly neighborhood and he has been stinking up the place for years. Now we know he has a gun and he loves it. He would have had to get a license through town and that isn't easy. No one is happy about this.

(2,927 posts)... not so long ago ... when Americans could prevent people who weren't the same as you from living in your neighborhood?

(6,185 posts)Perhaps a nice area where all the gun owners have to live.

(9,494 posts)I am not surprised that you are comparing your right to secretly buy and own as many and as deadly guns as you want to Auschwitz.

(2,927 posts)I have many potentially deadly things in my house -- my car, a swimming pool, two rather largish bath tubs, an assortment of power tools, a couple of nasty looking hammers and a rather comprehensive collection of cleaning supplies. All of those items take more lives in our country than firearms ever will.
My firearms, on the other hand, are among the least deadly items in my home as they are secure and, when used, they are only used by people who are trained to use them, respect their potential and use them in a safe and responsible manner.

(9,494 posts)lived next door finally beat his wife so badly that the police took him away along with his cache of guns. I sold my house and moved away before he moved back in. I am not the only one. I wouldn't want to live in a neighborhood over run by people with weapons and paranoia. If that makes me a bigot in your mind then it sounds like you qualify!

(2,927 posts)... moving out of a house, neighbourhood, county, state or country, because you disagree with the beliefs or opinions of your neighbours is your right as an American. The pursuit of happiness is your right and if being where no one disagrees with you makes you happy -- I would fight to the death to protect that right.
... FORCING SOMEONE ELSE to move (or even suggesting that they do) because you disagree with their beliefs and opinions goes against everything for which our Democrat parents and grandparent fought. It is vile and I would confound your attempts at every opportunity.

(9,494 posts)(unless it's really just a bunch of NRA trolls)and I have never seen so many rabid gun lovers. Are you saying that Austin is some kind of a gun free zone? Would your neighbors think you are a nut if you owned a AK15? I highly doubt it but I'll take your word for it if it is so.

(18,318 posts)and right here on DU. You can't wish it away. Main diff between myself and other gun-owners is they generally use auto-loaders as front-line weapons; I use hoary old revolvers & pumps.
