Police: Six students cited in Nerf gun scare
WAUSAU Six Wausau West High School students involved in a Nerf game Tuesday that was misinterpreted as an actual gun battle were issued $240 disorderly conduct citations, police say.
The trouble began at 9:45 p.m., when a concerned resident reported seeing several people get out of a vehicle on Stevens Drive and point firearms at people inside another car, according to Wausau police. Officers responded with guns drawn and shut down a portion of the road as a precaution.
Police believed the threat was real, but instead found students, armed with Nerf guns, playing a game called Senior Shoot Out, a high school tradition. Also called Nerf Wars, the game involves teams of four who try to eliminate other players by shooting them with Nerf pellets.

This is where anti-gun hysteria gets us. The kids are lucky they weren't gunned down like the 13-year old with the airsoft rifle.

OP
I would challenge the fine. There was nothing "disorderly" about their conduct.

I love the area. The story is just ridiculous.
