Gun Control & RKBA
Related: About this forumU.S. judge upholds Colorado gun restrictions
The state's Democratic-majority legislature passed the measures last year in reaction to the 2012 mass killings at a Denver-area movie theater and the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut. In a backlash by voters, two Democratic senators subsequently were recalled and a third resigned.
In her 50-page ruling, U.S. District Judge Marcia Krieger wrote "evidence shows that large-capacity magazines are frequently used in gun violence and mass shootings, and that often a shooter will shoot continuously until a weapon jams or the shooter runs out of ammunition."
"Most experts agree that the size of a magazine correlates to the number of rounds that are fired in both an offensive and defensive capacity," she added.

to make people happy I will post a comment about the article.
I think this will turn out to hurt Democrats in the long run and and amp up Republican voters in the midterm elections. Magazine limits did nothing for VA Tech and the 3 murders in California last month.
So it would make sense police officers should also be limited as they seem to just empty their magazines when shooting people.
Now for my question to the OP..................
Care to abide by the group SOP and discuss your post?

(1,401 posts)The OP is a host in the "other" gun group. That group is quick to ban anyone who doesn't completely agree with all gun regulations; the lack of activity over there is a direct consequence. The OP then pops over here and posts a bunch of articles but never comments. (Except to post that he wishes some posters to be banned).
Duckhunter935
(16,974 posts)posting with no comment or discussion not following the group SOP which as a host the poster should know better but he, she or it does it all the time to try and get posters that respond a hide. This poster is well known not to follow the SOP in he, she or it's favorite group.
Slacking, couple of weeks ago it was up to 76% of the posts.

(32,675 posts)Spam is flooding the Internet with many copies of the same message, in an attempt to force the message on people who would not otherwise choose to receive it. Most spam is commercial advertising, often for dubious products, get-rich-quick schemes, or quasi-legal services. Spam costs the sender very little to send -- most of the costs are paid for by the recipient or the carriers rather than by the sender.
There are two main types of spam, and they have different effects on Internet users. Cancellable Usenet spam is a single message sent to 20 or more Usenet newsgroups. (Through long experience, Usenet users have found that any message posted to so many newsgroups is often not relevant to most or all of them.) Usenet spam is aimed at "lurkers", people who read newsgroups but rarely or never post and give their address away. Usenet spam robs users of the utility of the newsgroups by overwhelming them with a barrage of advertising or other irrelevant posts. Furthermore, Usenet spam subverts the ability of system administrators and owners to manage the topics they accept on their systems.
Email spam targets individual users with direct mail messages. Email spam lists are often created by scanning Usenet postings, stealing Internet mailing lists, or searching the Web for addresses. Email spams typically cost users money out-of-pocket to receive. Many people - anyone with measured phone service - read or receive their mail while the meter is running, so to speak. Spam costs them additional money. On top of that, it costs money for ISPs and online services to transmit spam, and these costs are transmitted directly to subscribers.

(7,720 posts)Asking a valid question repeatedly is not the same as spam.
safeinOhio
(32,675 posts)On the other hand, valid or not, asking the same question over and over again for every post REPEATEDLY might well be spam.
Duckhunter935
(16,974 posts)kindly follow the group SOP, I would be glad not to ask them a question. As I try and comment now on the OP and ask for a comment from the OP it is indeed different for every OP.
Duckhunter935
(16,974 posts)Just asking the poster politely to follow the group SOP. He is very strict in enforcing the SOP of his group and he should be held to the same standard in this group.

(32,675 posts)I see tons of cartoons posted every day on DU with no comment by the person that post, and no one comments on the lack of comments. So, the person makes a post. Feel free to comment on the post. Most people get more pissed about personal attacks, which your replies get close to as they are always the same and always about one DU member.
Next time comment on the article first, not the person and his style of letting the article speak for it's self, just like the cartoons that are posted many times a day here.
Duckhunter935
(16,974 posts)this group is not the rest of DU and the SOP is very specific and words have meaning.

I do not think I have seen Doc's postings here but I have seen them in other groups that the SOP allows them.

That does seem to me to rise to level of spamming this group as he, she or it has tried in other groups. To bad that level of posting is not allowed in the other gun group.

see post 15, 19 and 23
once again epic fail
will you admit you were wrong that this cartoon was not posted in this group so the group SOP that Secular ignores does not matter for Docs posting in GD. That was what the whole conversation was about and the other person could not admit they were wrong.

(13,869 posts)than when people post other news (etc) threads in GD or even LBN. You think they should, and I think the news speaks for itself. You just would rather pretend there was no bad news about guns, so you're trying to shut it down any way you can. News gets posted without comment in other forums all the time. Why should GC & RKBA be different?
Also, I have no obligation to reply to belligerent assholes like your buddy Clames and whatever other names they've used over the years.
Duckhunter935
(16,974 posts)Same standard for all in this group would be nice and as SM is a host that strictly enforces his SOP and ignores others might be called hypocrisy.
and I have no problem at all for anyone to post here unlike those that require a "safe haven" to limit free speech. It is also interesting that in that "safe haven" some make fun and call names of DU members who are blocked and not able to respond. It is also funny that you sir, advocated blocking people even before they posted in a group to take away their free speech. It just would be polite for those that post here to have some kind of discussion as per the SOP. When some just post and leave it seems they are scared. I think I speak for most in RKBA that we would enjoy having a polite dialog. We are not allowed to do that in the other group as they point to the SOP and block anyone with a contrary view, I am glad we do not do that over here. All we ask for is more speech not less.
I know bad things can happen when bad people get guns, it seems to be on your side that can not get it that guns can be used in a responsible manor thousands of times a day by law abiding citizens.

(7,981 posts)I see a few gunners on the list who have been permanently banned from DU after having been blocked from posting in GCRA.
