Philly to pay $1.4 mil for anti gun antics

"The Nutter administration said Tuesday it had settled a class-action lawsuit with 3,265 Philadelphians who were denied a license to carry firearms by the Police Department or had a permit revoked and then appealed to the Department of Licenses and Inspections, which posted the information online.

The postings - on a new interactive website - came as a result of L&I's effort to be more transparent following an executive order on open data signed by Mayor Nutter in April 2012. The department posted several data sets, including gun permit appeals that contained applicants' names, addresses, and appeal information.

The applicants had to describe in the appeal documents why they needed a firearm. Some people stated that they have to carry a lot of cash at night, said Benjamin Picker, one of the lawyers who filed the suit, and making that information public exposed applicants to peril."

At some point the tax payers in Philly, Chicago and other major NRA/SAF contributors, are going to start to wonder; "Gee what else all these legal fees could have paid for, in terms of schools, more cops, upgrades to fire stations, as opposed to paying for posturing by some dumb as shit politicians"?

It is the gun owners that should be paying for their huge cost to society. The ERs are full of their victims.

The ERs are full of people wounded by people that jumped through all the hoops, including multiple background checks and fingerprinting to get a carry permit? That's what this is about. How many in the ER are from those people?

Based on your "insta-post" I'm guessing you didn't even bother reading the story.

You really feel they are the source of these shooting you reference?

Or are you just conflating the law abiding with the gang bangers?

Anybody with a gun is responsible, just like anybody with a car must be responsible for drunk drivers?

Maybe it's more the fault of sympathetic judges and lazy DAs who let violent criminals out too soon.

Maybe it's more the fault of a broken society that lets gangs run free because there's nothing left of any wealth because the upper 1% are so greedy.

Same problem with early identification and treatment of emotional disorders.

Maybe it's the fucking people, that tiny minority of people with guns who do such evil things.

People, not the guns.

Now back to you.

A far more lawful approach which protects society and degrades the now-enshrined celebrity-status of thugs and HyperPunks™.

In any case, the LI agency will be prevented from its variety of "slut shaming" Lawful gun-owners, as was attempted by a daily in N.Y, which no doubt wishes it hadn't done its Scarlet Letter posting.

The monetary penalties are proper and fair.
