Should the cops be trusted more with guns than an average citizen?
If so, why?

The shooting in under investigation by the state Office of the Attorney General because it involved a State Police trooper as well as a Mercer County sheriff's officer, who were in the city as part of a targeted law enforcement initiative to supplement the Trenton Police Department.
The two officers and another State Police trooper saw Hearns and two other males as they were walking along a street. The three officers got out of their vehicle and confronted the trio, and Hearns fled around a townhouse.

(4,522 posts)They are being TAUGHT to bring massive and lethal force to bear at the INSTANT they feel the least bit afraid. This is not just bad cops, but the whole cop system that is driving this. The fish rots from the head down....

Maybe he was holding the gun. If he was holding a checkbook would they have shot him for writing bad checks?

(17,502 posts)this one smells like a bad shoot. It sounds like the kid was still running while "reaching in his waist band". Although I haven't had the misfortune to be in that situation, it doesn't sound logical to me.
Of course, early reports often turn out to be full of shit. Let's see where this goes. I would suggest a preliminary hearing instead of a grand jury if such a thing is needed.

(13,877 posts)Perhaps they can get that added to their Continuing Education Units. Oh, that's right, they don't have that.

(10,136 posts)Not saying this is one of those cases.
The initial reporting, as inaccurate as it tends to be, is suggesting a bad shoot.

(10,136 posts)Folks often wrongly think that the Bad Guy's gun must be pointed where his chest is pointed. His arms easily reach around his torso to allow him to shoot behind him.

(13,877 posts)A far-out fear for their lives of a kid's ability to do a Houdini shot compared to the dead-on accuracy to kill of trained LEOs...sorry, not buying the BS.
Over and out.

(10,136 posts)Where someone is shot (front vs back) does not matter as long as the why is valid.
