WISCONSIN: 100,000 CCW permits issued in first six months.

http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/article/20120420/GPG0101/204200542/Concealed-carry-hit-milestone-100-000th-license

MADISON — The state Department of Justice will print the 100,000th concealed carry license today, just less than six months after the law took effect.

Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen will hold a news conference at 10 a.m. today while the DOJ prints the milestone license.

The DOJ's handgun hot line received a record 88,895 calls in 2011. February marked the month with the highest number of calls at 15,842. All firearm dealers must call the hot line before selling a handgun.

The concealed carry law took effect Nov. 1 and allows people 21 years old or older who took a training course to apply for a permit to carry a concealed handgun, knife or electric weapon, such as a Taser.

How's that for some frontlash?

1. In the real world, what the fuck is a knife going to defend you against?

That's just goddamned weird. Unless it's the sort of state where you have to have a CCW to carry a Leatherman.

And if I'm going to carry an electric weapon, fuck the Taser and its low success rate. I want a portable defibrillator.

12. A knife can be an effective defensive weapon, in some circumstances.

But they take considerable training to be most effective. They are much harder to learn to use correctly and safely, and require physical strength and dexterity.

4. It's nice to see that it's a concealed "weapons" permit instead of just pistols

Oh, and blood in the streets, vigilante justice, etc.

anti-ccw folks are typically oblivious of the fact that Oregon & Washington were shall issue well before Texas and Arizona.

(Or their factose-intolerant disposition leads them to dismiss this fact as unimportant)

However, many (about half) of gun owners live in states that are not shall-issue. That makes estimating a percentage difficult.
