Gun Control & RKBA

Good news for armed liberals, and all in general.
Yes. I think we are moving in the right direction with our tolerance:

"Forty-nine percent of respondents to the Pew Research Center survey said it was important to protect the constitutional right of Americans to own guns -- compared to 45 percent who thought gun control should take precedence."
"Pew also found that 47 percent of Americans now favor allowing gay and lesbian couple to marry -- well up from 39 percent in 2008 and 31 percent in 2004. Forty-three percent remain opposed."

(5,924 posts)As I see it, we are becoming more open and comfortable about these two highly explosive issues, than we were a few years back.
Granted, opinion poll results change and/or shift over time. But to me, as an armed liberal, it is refreshing for the moment.

(6,185 posts)I had this same conversation with my daughter a couple of months ago.
She teaches HS English in the Chicago school system. Her comment was that she's convinced her sons (5 and 2) will grow up and ask her someday, "Mom, what was the big deal about gay marriage and guns anyway?"
They are growing up surrounded by their gay friends and both she and her fireman husband go shooting regularly. To her boys, gay couples and shooting sports are just a normal part of life.
