Gun Control & RKBA
Related: About this forumDemand a Plan
Dear President Obama and Governor Romney,
The recent mass shootings in Colorado and Wisconsin were terrible tragedies and painful reminders of the cost of gun violence.
More than 48,000 Americans will be murdered with guns during the next presidents term. Thats why Im calling on you to step forward with a substantive plan to end gun violence.
What we need from our nations leaders is more than just a moment of silence -- we need a moment of courage.
I demand a plan to end gun violence.

(2,927 posts)... a .357 lever rifle and a pair of six guns for HD
... a lever shotgun, a deer rifle and a .22lr bolt to put food on the table
... and a .45 ACP for Zombies (luck favours the prepared)

(15,396 posts)Stainless, boy was she a beauty...Shot it a bunch then just polished her up and in the safe she went.
Long story short, a co-worker wanted it so I ended up letting it go. Just like the 2 44 mag blackhawks I used to have I miss it now. I knew better....that's the sad part.

(2,927 posts)... my matched (consecutive serial numbers) .357 Ruger Vaquero's blued with rosewood handles and the Kirkpatrick Cross Draw Two Gun Rig in which I carry them.
I won't tell you how long I practised to be able to re-holster without looking -- keeping my eye on the target.

(15,396 posts)But I just don't have a use for it....
I sold my 357 because the day I went to Roanoke I was intending on another 44mag. They didn't have one in stock and I didn't want to wait so I settled for a 357. Never buy a gun you're only half-hearted set on.

(2,927 posts)... .357 / 38 is so much less expensive to practice and I practice a lot. I shoot 200 rounds a month of .38 or .357 compared to 50 of .45 ACP (I don't own a .44). Also, in my opinion, in a HD scenario, it's less likely harm something I can't see on the other side of a wall and, while intelligent people can argue about stopping power, I've never heard of anyone who wasn't a Sasquatch who was still in the mood to scrap after taking a .38 bullet centre mass from five feet away.
Also, my wife and daughter prefer the smaller calibre and they're just as prepared as I to draw if required.
Additionally, because I started shooting when I lived in a country where getting a firearm was a legal nightmare, I evaluate every purchase over and over before purchasing. I wasn't spoiled for choice until returning to the USA.

(15,396 posts)I bought a 10mm after I sold the 357 and thought I may hunt with it some (under 30 yards) and use it for SD. The cost of "plinking" ammo and the fact I don't reload kinda soaked my bad planning with the 10mm. I ended up selling it also.
Now I'm just sitting on some extra "pistol" cash waiting patiently....for what I'm not sure. I've kinda cooled on the hunting pistol idea, so I'm waiting for a pistol to fill an unknown purpose.
My wife an daughter much prefer my 22's. My wife carries a 642 for her EDC and she loves shooting that little guy.

(8,142 posts)I figure that should be a pretty lethal duo to go along with my AR15's and M1 Garands. I little mix of the old with the new.

Better mental health care for all Americans. (Including the mentally unstable that believe taking away guns from law abiding citizens will stop the violence). We know they need help.

(3,291 posts)The rest of the persons at the theater were obeying the "no-guns-allowed" policy of the theater.
Alls it would have taken was one person of good conscience and action to prevent or stop this. That would be a moment of courage.

If you wait until the last minute you could find yourself on the wrong side of the ground.
