Vernon man, four others arrested in gun trafficking case

Four B.C. men and a woman in Florida have been arrested and 80 guns seized in a cross-border gun trafficking case. The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit showed off Mach 9s and 10s, AK-47 knock-offs, hunting rifles, silencers, DVDs on how to assemble assault rifles and more at a news conference in Delta Thursday.

As Chief Officer Dan Malo said, the guns would have inevitably ended up in the hands of B.C. gangsters to be used to settle scores in their continuing conflicts.

“This is a good day for British Columbians,” Malo said.

The only person charged so far is Riley Stewart Kotz, 32, of Vernon. Corporate records show he ran a company called Hycaps International Outfitters, that appears to be the website through which the guns and parts purchases were being made.
