Store cleark stops workplace violence with PSD.

http://www.khou.com/news/crime/Shooting-at-gas-station-in-northeast-Houston-185102451.html

HOUSTON -- A gunman rushed into a gas station in northeast Houston Friday afternoon and ordered everyone inside to hit the ground. Everyone followed orders -- except the store clerk who pulled out his own weapon.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
and ended the attack...
No word or how many shots or what caliber he used, but this is one story where a clerk protected the people under his care and refused to be a willing victim.
1. If this is true, good for him, he was lucky
but he wouldn't have had to go through this if guns weren't so readily available. 50 trained and armed police officers were shot and killed in the USA this year so far, over 70 last year so being armed is no guarantee.
I don't know how much training the clerk engages in but there's little room for doubt the result could have ended up just the opposite.
Anyone who carries a firearm for self defense needs to constantly train and learn techniques to help assure hit on the attacker and safety for those around them.
The criminal could have come in with a knife or ax or just be physically larger. The firearm would have gave him the advantage in that case.
While having a firearm on your person in no way guarantees a good outcome in a life saving situation, it does help keep you from being a willing victim.
It's just nice to see firearms saving lives instead of being misused and taking innocent life.
The video is at the link. Do you really think the TV station was lying?
What is wrong with defending yourself from violent crime?
Of course the bazillion you speak of means you're including the entire globe, and it's hard for one person to stop all killings.
As individuals we do what we can; My wife and I protect our family, it's up to each citizen to do what's best according to their belief system and capabilities.
You don't need to carry or even own a firearm to make our society a better place, support for our fellow progressive pro-2A citizens is a small step in making our civilization a little more civilized. Donation of your time and money to charities could take criminals off the street decreasing the need to citizens to carry firearms in public.
Together we can make a positive and progressive difference. Owning a firearm isn't necessary.
stay safe
10. Defensive hand guns are absolutely fine with me. Everyone should have the right to own one.
And I like your approach.
Can we make assault weapons illegal? Would you support that?
11. Rifles kill less than 400 people per year TOTAL in the USA.
Handguns on the other hand which you seem to strangely be fine with kill over 12000 a year. So what would be the point of outlawing something that is barely even used in committing crimes. Do you want to outlaw them just because a couple of crazy guys have used them in the commission of a few mass killings? So those several people abusing something that is rarely abused gives you the right to ban millions of law abiding citizens from owning said abused items? I remember when adults did that to children when I was a kid. Took away something from all the kids because one child did something stupid, whether it be a item like a toy, or a privilege. To be honest when people talk about banning things like assault rifles because of a few bad apples, it makes me feel like the anti gun people think we are irresponsible children that need our toys taken away because they think we aren't responsible enough to have them.
Never heard that proposal before.
I find it bizarre.
