I was puzzled why we have "fire danger" alerts in late winter and early spring here, given there is not much dry wood around then.
Turns out...they burn the fields that time of year, in order to plant cotton.
and we do have wind now and again in the spring.

So on what should be nice pretty spring days, the smell of smoke hangs over the town for a few weeks, unless it is raining.

today...rain, luckily.

Took out a 5 acre field and a fence line before the fire dept arrived. She said she went out to the pit, they spoke a few minutes, and then it just took off, skipping spots, landing here and there and reigniting. I don't usually burn unless there's a rain coming on, just in case, and I sleep better.

The funny thing was, when she called the fire dept., they said they were 'busy', and it might be a bit before they could get out there. She told them 'better hurry that up'. I can't imagine how many people were out burning that day, it was way high wind.

i was spamming to up my post count to gain thread posting abilities, with the intent to post a slightly inflammatory thread that likely would have upset you somewhat, although not with that goal in mind. now that we're close friends, i'd feel like an ass doing it. which i probably am anyways, but i don't like feeling it, figuratively at least. now i don't know what to do.

That was a unique way of post building, simple, with the least effort possible. And much more entertaining that the one word post building posts

unless i post that thing, then you'll hate me.
