Headphones to listen tv

I have a basic, nonSmart Tv and would like to get some nonBlueTooth headphones to use with it for TV volume.

Some years ago I had a neighbor who had a pair with about an 11 foot wire attached that plugged into the TV.

I'm looking for something along that line.

1. Best Buy has them, as does Walmart or google them.

Ask a clerk.
They plug into the volume out on the t.v. and have a base unit that plugs into the wall socket.
Then the headphones plugs into the base as well to recharge then when not in use.

Just unplug the headphones from the base, put them on and enjoy.

I can also hear the t.v. when it's on mute. The headphone has a volume adjustment right on the ears.

I love my set!!! Best thing I ever bought and recommend them to anyone and their brother who knows some who is hard of hearing.

Mr. Shraby has his own t.v. in the living room as do I. His has the volume on, mine is on mute. That way I can watch what I want and he can watch his sports and not bother each other.

One more thing, the headphones are now wireless but recharge on the base when not in use and the charge is usually good for around 24 hours.

2. Do you know the brand name?

3. The set I got from Best Buy is Sony and the ones I got

from Walmart is RCA

Walmart here is local and I thought about them while I was there, and Best Buy is in Green Bay and same thing..I thought about the when I was there.

Can't remember what the Sony set cost, but the RCA set was $50.00
You can probably find them cheaper at Amazon or another outlet for electronics.
They all plug into the audio out on the t.v. and into an electrical plug in.

4. What type of output jack is on your TV?

You want to make sure that if you go to the store for this you can tell the clerk the exact name and model of your TV. So they can look it up and be sure what you're buying will work with it.

If you post that here I'll be happy to look up compatible headphones for you. What is the exact make and model of the TV? I'm sure we can find something on Amazon to work for you.

I absolutely agree with your choice to go with a wired set of headphones. I have the wireless type so I won't disturb my roommate and they do cut in and out at times.

6. "type of output jack"

The TV is a 5 year old Sceptre 32" flat screen.

It uses plugs like this:

7. Those are RCA plugs

The red and white are for sound. The yellow is for video.

If you only have the red, white and yellow on the back of the TV and no 3.5mm headphone jack, you're going to want two things

1. RCA y-adapter to 3.5mm headphone:

That will allow you plug into the red and white for the audio and then have a regular headphone jack for headphones. The yellow is for video so you don't need to plug into that because you're going to use the TV for that.

Important note. I looked up Sceptre TVs and they generally have the headphone jack on the back of them. This is important because it saves you the cost of the adapter. Equally important though, is when you plug into that jack the sound will only be thru the headphones. Not thru the TV's speakers.

If you go the way of the RCA adapter and headphones the TV will still continue to produce sound from its built-in speakers. This may be a plus for you if you want to have guests over and they want to watch TV with you. They would be able to hear the sound from the TV's speakers and you would still be able to use the headphones to hear better at the same time.

All connections are on the bottom of my set for some reason.
I turned it over today and looked at the holes and labels marking them and did not see a digital plug hole.

5. if your tv has audio outs you could grab an adapter and extension cable and use any headphones

It's about as analog as you can get
