(34,648 posts)I love it. This was such a good show, I hope everybody watches and takes a while to process it. And that clip from scandal was so true. I am so glad he took over that hour. If people watxh they can learn alot from just watching.
And that angry thing. I get it no matter how calm I am. I can get cussed out and smile, the second I say 'Stop yelling at me." I get called enraged and angry, bitter, playing the victim card. Such bullshit.

(16,286 posts)that I hoped you were watching...
I see now, by the way, why most AfAm no longer post outside of this forum.
DU has jumped the shark.
More anti Hillary, pro rightwingers here in disguise than is palatable, we need a place to congregate and talk but this aint it.
It is so funny, the people who actually have a reason to be anti Hillary, like you, are the ones who also understand the consequences of acting like petulant children and staying home and not voting, unless their state is solidly blue and the vote doesnt matter.

(24,544 posts)She is a darling. Which is why so many of DU's "finest" are rushing to make her their black friend!
I've been disappointed in the Dem party for a loooong time, particularly in the way its treated its most loyal members. But my disappointment is absolutely nothing compared to my disgust and literal fear at the Republican party.
And these "leftists" that see no difference between the two and seem to be more invested in tearing down the Dem party than building it up and want people to suffer horribly so that the US can reach rock bottom and then "start over" are a very close second.

(34,648 posts)I think about president Ted Cruz or Rand Paul or Jeb omfg Bush. Democrats can be neglectful but they are down right evil.
Hillary supporters gotta stop demanding people show up to the polls. Stop it. The election is hella far off. Most people complaining that they won't vote, will change their fuckin minds quick as hell. The republican circus will chang minds and make people think twice about letting the Pauls run America. Or Jeb. Some people won't vote fo her. So she will just have to find voters by outreach. Plenty of people are turning 18 before the election. I want to make them democrats. I want us to reachout to ignored groups nd fight for them. We'r gonna win. Just gotta get a game plan. A hillary needs to start communicating.

(34,648 posts)Can't have a civilized conversation in GD, so, we do it in AA. I have no clue why they don't post on the hillary sucks threads. There are no solutions in just bitching and trashing.

(31,924 posts)Reason of why the centrists are against "him" and he won't vote -
Like our lives depend on it.
The thing is - I don't support Warren. She's my second to last choice - Sanders is dead last. Given someone who has 30, 40, 50 years of being a Democratic Party member and a Johnny or Susie come lately? I'm going with the candidate I believe can get the other demographic that consistently votes to vote for him.

(34,648 posts)I have a strange attraction to Sherod Brown. If he wanted to run, I'd knock on every door in town.
JustAnotherGen
(31,924 posts)But brooklynite is connected to him and says he won't run. That said - I like him being pugnacious in the Senate.

(31,849 posts)at least, any (many) that post to this group.
What I do see is a bunch of folks saying exactly what is being said here ... "Any Democrat would be head and shoulders better than any republican President."
bravenak
(34,648 posts)And I stay out of the i hate hillary thread on purpose. Not reasonable at all. I guess I'm more worried about republicans starting more wars and shit than hillary hurting my fee fees.

(34,648 posts)Anf that thing about th way we dress. Shit. So true. We could all wear the same thing, but somehow I'm super sexy in it. Bullshit.
As I'm finishing up my web development course, I'm noticing so much sexism and racism in the gamer community. I'm glad I decided to NOT train for game development. Takes too long and th assholes are nuts.
I have decided that once again I cannot work for other people. I'm just going to have to freelance and start my own business. I'm freewriting the code for my website, just to make sure it's exactly how I want. Everybody else can get a modified template.
No more overworking for somebody else. I need to hire people to overwork for me!!

(24,544 posts)Maybe at some point, they'll start to tackle the racism too.
Jezebel has done a lot of AMAZING stories on Gamergate. I highly recommend Jezebel. It's what DU wants to be. It's smarter, SOOOO much funnier and more diverse (racially, sexual orientation) in a day than DU is in a month.
They even did a story on the physics involved in making boobs bounce in games! That one was weird. Illuminating, but weird...
bravenak
(34,648 posts)I have been reading about gamergate and I figured it was like that. I started playing on Atari when I was 4, but boys have always seemed to think girls don't game. I have no idea why. I buy most of the good systems when they come out.
The racism part is fucking crazy. They really don't think anything is wrong with all white characters and stereotyping. We need to learn to just start writing our own games and start companies. I would try it but it looks boring.

(1,989 posts)I almost felt sorry for Patricia Arquette. Wait. No, I didn't. But, I do believe she was nervous and excited about tipping her toe out into political waters for a good cause. If she had stopped there...all would have ended well. But, alas...she didn't.
It reminded me...just a wee little bit, of "what's her name" interrupting the 1st lady. Remember that? What about me? What about me? Can we talk about me again?
It's a shame, too. Because, I do not believe Patricia Arquette was attempting to exclude women of color. I think she was trying to use her platform for a good cause. This is what we want celebrities and people in powerful positions to do. In fact, Ms. "Ima interrupt the 1st lady," had a good cause, as well. You just kind of get that feeling that they're willing to step all over you to get it done, and your own cause will get left in the dust.
I mean, be honest. If we fix that 77% versus 100% difference for white women and men tomorrow, does anyone here believe they're going to then recognize that there is still a gap for black women? Nope, they would tell us, hey, things take time. You're making more now, aren't you? Thanks to me. Now, let's work on the next thing that's not going well for me.
It just doesn't feel...inclusive.

(31,924 posts)I think when it comes down to Feminists in the know -
They would agree with me -
We take all races of women (the big 4 demographics looked at) - get an average - and we work from that number.
I'm willing to completely throw Arquette under the bus if it means I put a Latina/Hispanic woman at the front of this fight (they are consistently the lowest paid) because she can make the strongest argument.
One gender - one wage - one fight.
The problem I have with Arquette is she took a discussion that could have been EXTREMELY inclusive and through her weed or pill popping induced haze fucked up the platform.

(24,544 posts)I'm surprised but not surprised at the same time. HoF has alot of good eggs but I imagine that they have the same limitations that the entire women's movement has had since its inception.

I hadn't even thought about it that way, but damn you are right as rain.

(24,544 posts)Well in all honesty, we get that impression because for a very, very long time, that's exactly what's been happening.
