Maryland Congresswoman Donna F. Edwards released a poll this week shows her ahead of her primary rival Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) by 5 points among state Democratic voters in the race for the Senate in 2016, according to her campaign.

Democratic pollster, Global Strategy Group, surveyed 600 likely Democratic voters by phone in the first week of August and found that 42 percent of respondents said they would support Edwards while 37 percent chose to back Van Hollen.

5. The problem with Maryland is that we have too many good candidates ...

in this very blue state, and they have to run against each other.

Donna was my congresswoman for awhile, until re-districting changed that. John Delaney is now my congressman, knocking off a longtime Republican incumbent from western Maryland.

Chris Van Hollen is a major power in the House right now, and has lots of money and endorsements. Donna has a big task in attempting to knock him off. Chris is a good guy, too.
