(8,616 posts)HRC is 'red meat' for the Republicans? I guess the poster is not familiar with the Bernie logo festooned all over FR, replete with hammers and sickles.

I think DU is filled with idealists, purists, who have no notion of how real government works. Campaigning and governing are not the same.

(15,438 posts)Very sad that on a supposedly Democratic Party supporting site, the membership is infested with anti-Democratic Party people who simply loathe both President Obama and SoS Clinton but fawn over Libertarians Snowden, Greenwald, and Ron Paul.
I don't recognize this place anymore.

Michael Tracey writes in American Conservative on the links between Ron Paul-ism and the Occupy Wall Street movement, past and prospective:
One might say Ron Paul people played a more integral role to the inception of Occupy than conventional Democrats or liberals, many of whom scorned the inscrutable demonstration in its first weeks. The journalist Arun Gupta, who co-founded the Occupied Wall Street Journal in New York City and later embarked on a tour of Occupy sites across America, told me hed see clusters of Ron Paul supporters and various libertarians virtually everywhere he went. Such folks tended to be better represented and integrated in red states, Gupta saidCheyenne, Boise, Tulsa, Little Rock, Louisville, Charleston, etc.while in blue states they typically formed enclaves that were tolerated by the wider group.
A fair number of Occupy people in those days either had no opinion of or actively disliked Ron Paul, but the undercurrents of support were nonetheless noticeable, ranging from individuals who would wield official campaign paraphernalia to others who would concede private support only for narrow aspects of Ron Pauls platform upon intense questioning. One would more reliably come across vocal Ron Paul supporters at Occupy events than vocal Obama supporters. It was not lost on the Zuccotti Park crowd, for instance, that Ron Paul personally expressed a measure of support for the movement earlier than most any other national U.S. politicianaside from Sen. Bernie Sanders or Rep. Dennis Kucinich....
Signage bearing the Paul-derived End the Fed slogan was common around Lower Manhattan during those frenzied weeks. Stories of Paul-Occupy fusion emerged from around the country: in Los Angeles, a Ron Paul activist successfully added an anti-Federal Reserve amendment to OccupyLAs working manifesto; an ultimately ill-fated Ron Paul Tent was established for a time at OccupyPhilly...

I'm not sure why anyone would be surprised that the Occupy people hate both Obama & Hillary Clinton. Like I said, OWS, at its roots, was a Libertarian movement, and I'll predict that BS will get as close to the White House as Ron Paul did.

That would be putting oneself in a pecked to death situation.
Thankfully - there are not one but TWO places people can post to get away from these harpies.

(8,616 posts)They do seem to be quite defensive of their candidate. Kind of cultish, if you ask me.
BlueCaliDem
(15,438 posts)They're outright cultish in about every way one would accuse a cult to operate! Even the staffers at Sanders' campaign act that way! I've read and seen the response by the campaign of people who withdraw their support, and it's pretty Ron Paulish. They respond with a gif saying, along the lines,: "So you want to support the Kochs?" I mean, really??
And almost Maoish adoration of their leader, and demonization of those who compete for the nomination.

(9,494 posts)It is going to come back and bite them in their cultish asses! Sanders is losing and nothing will change that but he's going to look like an idiot when the press finishes with him. They are really pissed off at Bernie supporters and, as soon as they squeeze the ratings out of the situation, they are going to start treating them the way they treat all lunatic fringes.

Thanks for clearing that up. And considering that person has been using DU as their personal blog and Twitter feed for years now, I'm sure that lots of folks agree with your assessment.
