I will need to find a place to celebrate if somehow Bernie does win.

I wont do it on DU, way too many people I cant stand to be associated with will be celebrating, gloating, etc.

I will celebrate with my friends off the internet and that will be enough.

I find threads here that celebrate something about Bernie but I refuse to respond to the poster, as it often is someone who has shown complete disrespect for my friends here in AfAm.

It really is an unusual situation to be in.

http://www.businessinsider.com/polls-bernie-sanders-black-voters-2015-11

That was back in November, so it's probably changed by now.

To get much higher numbers which are needed, you cant insult the very people you want votes from.

Bernie doesnt do that, as far as I can tell (I am not Black, not up to me to decide), but his supporters do and his message is a bit tone deaf as to what the AfAm voters are looking for.

My point is if Bernie cant win the nomination for this reason

a. will Bernie supporters blame Black people and seek to punish them somehow?

b. will Bernie supporters still vote for Hillary

A. Yes. We are still being blamed for Prop 8 when Elsa Prince and the Mormon Church had far more to do with that than some black person in NJ. I've got someone on ignore for a few months that I've no doubt - will be out for us.

B. Some will and some won't. Many will vote for a 3rd Party - Green, etc etc. They are for Bernie - not members of the Democratic Party.

I felt it first hand in NJ in 2013.

A flawless liberal.
A flawless progressive.

Flawless.

Zero support. The Democratic Partyhad convinced itself Christie would be a contender in this election. Shame on us. They propped up Christie and our property taxes surpassed the 2% threshold this year. Shame on the Democratic Party.

That said - I'm also an O'Malley supporter.

Had there been more debates . . .

These are people who HATE Clintons Obama and other democrats.

They mostly post on the internet and push conspiracy theories . They have a problem with many social changes in the country and keep yearning for the good old days.

They focus more on hating democrats than in actually doing anything to s uppport the candidate they claim to support.

Out of the blue an attack thread on O'Malley. Funny - because I thought this was a Clinton v Sanders race.

Anyhoooo - someone writes - We need a new FDR.

I ask - Will that include his housing policies. I then explain why that doesn't benefit me.

Comes back with - I trust Bernie over a Corporatist.

Not all - but some - SOME of his supporters - at least at DU - are slogan folks. Whichever slogan speaks to them/me/mine/me/me/me is what they know this election.

If Clinton or O'Malley win the nomination they just need to get Sanders top five words and integrate them into their ads/websites etc etc in the background as subliminal messages.

this is a good site. All you need to do is depress AA turnout in swing states and depress the educated white vote or flip it a few points into the red. We know that the GOP excels at voter suppression. So if Sanders manages to poison the well for the Democrats, then yeah, it is problematic.

I doubt Clinton supporters would stay home if Sanders won. Me, personally, I would struggle with getting excited about GOTV. But I would def vote.

And piss on anyone who blames and entire race for their problems.

All though I would be interested in them for sure.

I usually do non-partisan issue-oriented voter registration and education anyway. I liked doing Obama last time, just because his GOTV was such a beautiful beast. It was fun to see what you can do with real money and tons of volunteers.

After a certain point, elections are just demographics, percentages and addition. You need X percent of each Dem leaning constituency Y amount of turnout. Dems need BOTH liberal white and AA to win. And women. Sander's plan never seemed to involve AA or women. He had neither on his original campaign team. Go figure

The Kochs have admitted - they can't control him. The people will vote for him. And Karl Rove is very quiet - we know he knows how to steal elections (saw the attempt in 2012) but I think he knows the numbers will be too high.

Trump needs Santorum, Fiorina, and Paul to drop out so he can grab the lead with a big spread. After that - Trump is the nominee.

Let's say Trump wins. I don't think he will live long making his VP selection very important.

The stroke out at the SOTU when he gets booed will do him in.

He has made inroads with liberal whites. Not so much with AA and more conservative Dems. He is very far behind there. Not sure how much he needs to make up to actually win. I am not usually all that into primaries. I much prefer beating the holy heck out of the GOP to pissing on other Dems, but that's me.....

I assume this has been posted here, but it is new to me.

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/09/upshot/why-bernie-sanderss-momentum-is-not-built-to-last.html

Here is FiveThirtyEight on the percentage of white liberals in each state. New Hampshire and Iowa are among the highest.

http://fivethirtyeight.com/datalab/bernie-sanders-could-win-iowa-and-new-hampshire-then-lose-everywhere-else/

The newest number I could find about her favorability in the AA community pegged it at 75%

It is so weird that I kind of feel like white "liberals" are my enemy right now. I AM a white liberal But I thought that also involved respect for diversity, among other things.... My bad.

nominee, but she may have to limp to the nomination because of outsiders who have gone after the DNC & DWS. After Super Tuesday, BS will be an afterthought, but the damage will have been done. They will scream that the DNC was in the bag for HRC all along, and therefore the outcome was rigged. They will scream that they will never give another dime to the DNC (I suspect they never have before), and they'll get their revenge somehow. Blah...Blah...and more Blah.

The good news, is that these are mostly Greens & other assorted leftists who hang out at sites like NorquistDogLake, RT & other sites devoted to attacking Democrats. The rest are just minions of Rove & Co, who have embedded themselves to stir up shit.

As a HRC supporter, it would be great if she won IA & NH, but it's not necessary to win the nomination. When the primaries come to the "broader" (you know what I mean) democratic electorate, Hillary Rodham Clinton will be the 2016 Democratic nominee for POTUS.
