Heard this too many times: I'm not a racist....but....

and then the person goes on to make a statement that demonstrates that he or she is, indeed, a racist.

Attempts to point that fact out to the person pretty much always fail. I wish I was better at helping people understand that "but" negates their first declaration. There should be no "buts." "But" simply doesn't fly.

1. Many people do not realize that "but" means ignore everything that comes before my "butt."

that "exceptions" don't count. It's frustrating to me, but it must be infuriating to many people.

to the racists and bigots who dont want to say "I'm not a racist...but..."

They want to not have to answer that issue and simply be who they want to be.

This is the culmination of over 7 years of hatred toward the man in the White House.

This is the culmination of over 7 years of hatred toward the man in the White House.

That was the entire point of the piece. Said that for all of the desperate attempts to claim and pretend otherwise, that white fear is pretty much the sole factor propelling Trump.
