Just started.
I met Alex Haley at an airport once.
His story is as interesting as the one he tells.

Roots is aired, I am taken back to my freshman year of high school, where I was one of 14 Black kids at a school of close to 1,000.
There was a fight every day that the show aired, as the white kids thought it cute to re-name each and every Black kid "Kunta" or "Chicken George."

of the championship football team.
I just remember how everything stopped for the show, which in itself was instructive.

Would the stoppage have been (as) instructive, had the AA population NOT been an important part of the championship football team?
{Not trying to sh!t-stir; but rather, draw attention to the fact that AA tend to only be seen or considered, when they/we are a part something, rather than, just being. (teaching moment?)}

I have to be careful of "when" I watch it.
You know...if you watch it on Sunday night, and then get up and go to work on Monday morning...things may not go well. That casual remark made by a coworker at the water cooler could get ugly.
