On My Mind - Trayvon and Knox and the Fight of the Century

I'll start with Trayvon vs. Knox

I keep reading at DU that our justice system is superior to that of Italy's.

Question for the AA Group and AA Empathetic - in light of the Zimpig walking around free - do you believe this to be true?

If not in that case - what about this . . .

In light of the fact that Mayor De Blasio has said NYC will settle the stop and frisk suits - do you believe this to be true?
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/01/31/nyregion/de-blasio-stop-and-frisk.html?hpw&rref=nyregion&_r=0

Sorry Knox has to take the 'knocks' on this - but I wonder what she would say? Seriously?

And then there's this fight on March 1st between the Murderer Walking Around Free and ______________.

What part of: Zimpig can't fight isn't anyone getting?

According to Zimpig himself - he can't fight!

He can shoot!

But he can't fight.

I don't know who his opponent is - but he/she needs to fight for Zimmie to get a cavity search before going into the ring becaus mark my words . . . he'll find a way to sneak in a gun and use it if his opponent isn't careful.

You know why?

He won a case because He Can't Fight.

This isn't going to end well.

When that tall, super thuggy kid came out of nowhere and attacked this kindly neighborhood watch captain because of his hood mentality, g-piggy was unable to handle him, and was force to stand his ground against that concrete wielding maniac.

calling out Italy's hopelessly corrupt, dishonest and inept legal system...

People need to make up their minds -- If Italy is *this* corrupt and incompetent, then the original decision to release Knox needs to be called into question, too...

This case just rubs me the wrong way because while the national media was essentially lobbying on a daily basis for Knox's behalf (Good Morning America pretty much gave Knox's parents and attorney free airtime for a week straight with no rebuttal whatsoever), Troy Davis was executed and hardly anyone gave a shit (and the couple of media stories I watched about THAT case focused mainly on the victim's family, and how happy they were going to be to finally get "closure&quot

I know next to nothing about Amanda Knox but I know her name pops up here and there every now and again usually followed by someone (white) who says some variation of:

"oh, you can just LOOK at her and tell she's innocent"

I remember many, many years ago there was a case in NY where a white au pair killed a baby in her charge. The child's parents were from Pakistan or Bangladesh, I forget which place. They were not white. I will never forget the number of times they'd interview white people, particularly white women on the streets of NY during the trial who basically said the same thing these guys are saying about Amanda Knox:

"oh you can just LOOK at her and tell she's innocent."

Why do I get the feeling that if she was black with synthetic braids and was named Renisha instead of Amanda, that NONE of these people would be saying:

"oh, you can just LOOK at her..."

Yeah - what about Troy Davis DU?

I'm going to make an admission here - until that case I believed in the Death Penalty for truly heinous crimes. Think Ted Bundy.

Troy Davis changed me.

And as for criminal justice in America - my cousin Wendell was murdered in 1991 - the case went cold. I've actually SEEN NIH on his original police report. Yep - the church youth leader heading to American U law school fall of that year, leader in his Frat, student government at U of R. Not a human. Know why? Young black man murdered in the "crack" era.

Long story short - about a week after the Oklahoma City bombing the city of Rochester's downtown was on lockdown (remember because the country was still on high alert so we were freaking out that morning). Turns out it was a HUGE drug/gang bust. Turns out one of the people that "turned" sang like a canary about everything he did to get into that gang - like a random murder. So random he left the Tag H watch on his victim, the victims graduation gift Saab, and the OJ, NyQuil, and Kleenex he was bringing to his sick girlfriend that lived in the ghetto.

And I found this out in July 2004 when I started dating a Republican A.D.A. Who started out in the county prosecuting drug busts who asked, "how did you get so victim's rights?". And the look in his face . . . When I shared with him - this man who was now the head of the arson bureau and was second chair on NYs first Death Penalty case in decades. This man who had one concern - I don't care about your race, religion, or age, or circumstances - you murder someone I'm getting you.

He got that attitude because of the "canary" who murdered a guy four years younger than him, just like him, same University, heading to law school, athlete, religious - who just differed from him on skin color. As a legal little pup - he couldn't believe he couldn't "get" the guy that did it.

So one Friday night in July 2004 went into his office and read that case file. The only comfort he got was discomfort - because the canary took a point blank bullet to his head in 1997. But still - some dirtbag cop wrote - NHI.

Case closed.

They had never told his family.

So excuse me if I look down my nose and I am jaded about the criminal justice system in America. The guys who did it (my cousin's murderer, Zimpig) "always get away with it.". The guy who didn't - gets the death penalty.

The people of NY are very lucky to have Police Chief Bob Duffy in Albany right now. Aside from the fact that were another Alumni of the cult of A.Q. Private school - he along with black Mayor changed how things were done because they knew there was dirt under the finger nails of an awful lot of people. And I'd bet the are going to give De Blasio a pretty wide swath to right some very serious wrongs.

Shit - at least in the Knox case Meredith Kercher was a murder victim. In NYC the cops have just been making shit up to roll people. At least the Italians are trying - here in America the DA thought it was just so sad but she could have cared less about getting a conviction for a guy who murdered a black kid in cold blood.

We live in glass houses made of (big dig - not even a poke - but a dig with an iron shovel) Murano glass.

but i decided to stay out of the threads now . i got into it enough before and it's mostly just repeating things now. but i saw how the pr team worked and obvious lies from her mother.

isn't it interesting that they think the system is flawed yet they fully accept anything that is said to be evidence against the the black guy.
