http://www.dailydot.com/opinion/clueless-things-white-people-say-racism/This is a little discussion about white privilege that I wanted to share. It's a good reference piece when someone asks for more information.

It's really grasping.

(23,156 posts)I get privileges and advantages I'm not even aware of.
I am fortunate in that over the years I've had African American friends who have been willing to talk with me about race and various race related issues. They have helped me enormously in understanding all this.

(46,045 posts)Lord knows they have no obligation to do that. I've listened and learned a lot. I don't do those 9 stupid things.
I always knew I was privileged, even though I didn't have the word for it. I've often wondered how many jobs I got over equally qualified minority people. No way to know.

(21,646 posts)Thats the reaction many black and people of color are absolutely tired of receiving from so many people who have racial privilege, all of whom will never have any tangible idea of what its like to experience the daily social and institutional indignities of being non-white in America.

(31,823 posts)1) Youre racist for making this an issue of race.
2) I dont see race. I only see the human race.
3) Talking about issues in terms of white people and white privilege is reverse racism.
4) You [person of color] clearly dont know what racism is. According to Websters Dictionary...
5) You [person of color] said something about white people doing racist things, so I demand you explain this to me right now.
6) But my [person of color] friend said it was OK if I did it [racially problematic thing].
7) Stop attacking me for having privileges just because Im white. Its racist and hurtful.
8) Im sick of pretending that [people of color] need special rights and programs just because they arent white. We have problems too, you know.
9) Insert tear-filled expression of white privilege guilt or denial here.
