2024 Best Book awards

Barnes & Noble's Book of the Year is James. A powerful story of family, home and freedom. Author Percival Everett has flipped the script on an American classic as Huck Finn steps to the side and Jim — James — takes center stage.

Their choice for Children's Book of the Year is Impossible Creatures, a fantasy masterpiece from Katherine Rundell. An adventure story of mythical beasts under threat of extinction and the pair of courageous children resolved to save them.

Orbital takes the Booker Prize out of this world... literally! As the first winning novel set in space, it follows a team of astronauts aboard the International Space Station, offering a fresh perspective on our world. At just 136 pages, it’s the second-shortest book to win the prize, making it a quick yet cosmic read. Plus, it's the only British-authored nominee this year!

Just read James. Now looking forward to those other two, if I can find them.
