midnight in a house of death

two clocks are ticking to the right and the left
slightly out of synch one following the other
sounded seconds pricking dissecting time deft
hanging on the brink and searching for cover
to sit in the half dark among the dim shadows
all unmoving and in silence strains at images
imagination to embark losing to the sin shows
as an unexpected violence blusters and rages
the head is slightly turning toward that unseen
an involuntary fear while a demon ghost floats
the edge of a fire burning washing the unclean
swallowing bitter bile into a heart which bloats
a last chance to catch a breath living all alone
midnight in a house of death shiver to the bone
