Derrick Rose out for season after injuring left knee

<snip>

"Derrick Rose will miss the remainder of the playoffs after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee late in the Chicago Bulls' Game 1 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers. Rose also will miss the upcoming Olympics in London.

The Bulls' win over the 76ers was a by-the-numbers affair until just less than a minute and a half left to go in the fourth quarter, when Rose was forced to leave the contest after planting awkwardly on his left knee. While driving on 76ers big man Spencer Hawes, Rose came to a jump stop, shifted uneasily and immediately passed the ball off to teammate Carlos Boozer while clearly aware that something had gone wrong. After writhing on the court for a few minutes, he was helped off by both the Chicago and Philadelphia trainers."

i'm not a bulls fan, but you like to see all the teams playing at their best in the playoffs.

It was over. Tough luck for Rose. I don't watch basketball but I know he's one of the best in the league.

left him to increase the lead which Philadelphia narrowed to 12 to send a message. It makes sense because sometimes when a team fights back from a big lead to close the game, even if they don't win, it can build momentum for their next game. Not saying it is the right decision, obviously hindsight says it is bad, that I understand it. Plus, Rose has been hurt for a great portion of the season. Probably just one of those years.

Truly a shame for Rose, his team mates, and their fans. Had an ACL done myself and it's no damn fun.

pull out a championship this year. They still have a shot without Rose, but the road will be a lot tougher without him. It also sucks that he won't be healthy enough for the Olympics.

I feel bad for him, his team and his fans. He's a really stand up guy and a great baller. He was fighting injuries all season and now this.
