From thoroughbredtimes.com: Churchill Downs has delayed live racing during the Kentucky Oaks (G1) card due to an impending severe thunderstorm approaching the Louisville area.
The track postponed racing around 4:30 p.m. EDT as the horses were being led over for the American Turf Stakes (G2). The horses were sent back to their barns. Shortly after, patrons were advised to evacuate the infield and seek shelter. The storm hit just before 5 p.m.
The American Turf is the race prior to the Kentucky Oaks.
According to the Twitter account of Churchill Downs Senior Director of Communications Darren Rogers (@DerbyMedia), racing is scheduled to resume once the storm has passed.
