Is it safe to add Bolt to greatest Olympic athlete discussions? He doesn't enter as many events as Phelps but dominates the ones he does enter.

He is the first Olympic to repeat in both the 100m and 200m. He is also the only person ever to own both the 100m & 200m world records.
It is difficult to compare across sports based on the volume of events. A player on a team sport (besides relays) would never be considered one since they only enter 1 event per Olympics.

(56,177 posts)I don't know...I'd have to check. The thing is, from what I can recall, he's become a superstar in sports, and not many (if any) track and field athletes can claim that.

(29,322 posts)He's just the first to do it in both.

(56,177 posts)But not both twice...and he has 10 gold, I believe...if Bolt comes back to Rio, that might change the conversation.

(65,223 posts)Lewis won the 100 twice. But, didn't do it in the 200. So, Bolt is 2nd to do the 100 and the first to the 200, and of course, the first to do both.
