Report: Browns to clean house

ESPN.com news services / 12-30-12

The Cleveland Browns are expected to clean house Monday, letting go of both coach Pat Shurmur and general manager Tom Heckert, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported Saturday, citing league sources.

The newspaper reported that Shurmur and Heckert either will be fired or will part ways with new Browns owner Jimmy Haslam III and CEO Joe Banner. Cleveland (5-10) wraps up its season with a road game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday and is assured a last-place finish in the AFC North for the second straight year.

Shurmur's status became tenuous once Haslam took over the team and Mike Holmgren exited the organization earlier this season.

Sources told the Plain Dealer that Shurmur and Heckert both know they will be let go but have not been informed of the decision.

The Raiders haven't reached the postseason in about a decade, and have actually regressed this year to 4-12 after being 8-8 for 2 straight years. I think where we went wrong is when Al Davis fired Tom Cable after an 8-8 season. At least under him, we swept everybody in the division. Also Michael Bush and Jason Campbell should've never left.
The Carson Palmer trade turned out to be a sick joke, too.

and rightly so. His zone blocking scheme was a disaster. Of course, Dennis Allen could have vetoed it during the bye though a big change like that, I understand, is hard to pull off mid-season. Injuries took a toll as well. The team had no depth. Allen and Reggie McKenzie inherited a mess.

Can't blame the current regime for the Palmer trade. BTW, I think he did a pretty good playing on a shit team.

* Get yet another bozo GM.
* Get yet another offensively predictable head coach.
* Draft more injury-prone linemen that don't pan out.
* Draft yet another weak-armed sucko quarterback whose stats were buoyed by their receivers.
* Draft more receivers who cannot get open and cannot catch when they do.
* Draft their usual corners who get burned with stunning regularity.

Is this team cursed or do they just have a lot of stupid incompetents running it? How do other teams get far lower draft picks than we do, yet they become all-stars and ours become Courtney Brown?
